I have more than thirty years of seagoing experience, twenty years as a licensed US Merchant Marine Officer and five years as a Licensed Belgian Merchant Marine Officer. I Have sailed in many capacities from Able Seamen to Master, also Assistant Engineer, many ratings in the engine room, also Chief Pumpman and Tankerman . I have a broad experience in operating a wide variety of vessels from Europe and the United States. I also have an extensive experience sailing traditional sailing vessels.

USCG-Mate of Steam or Motor Vessels of 1600 Gross Tons (3000 ITC).
USCG -Designated Duty Engineer steam, gas turbine and motor 4000 hp.
Belgian Merchant Marine -Matros (AB) certificate, Pool des Marins, Marine Marchande, Antwerp, Belgium.
Belgian Merchant Marine -Assistant Engineer Certificate from Ecole Superieur Maritime, Antwerp, Belgium.
Marine Refrigeration Engineer Certificate, Harry Lundeberg School of Seamanship, Piney Point, Maryland, USA.

Sailed deep sea for the Belgian Merchant Marine as Matros(AB) and Assistant Engineer (1966 to 1976).
Sailed on the Great Lakes for the Seafarer International Union as AB/Wheelsman and QMED (1989 to 1996).
Currently serving as Captain aboard the 80 foot, Schooner, Inland Seas.
Prior to joining Inland Seas, I served as Master or Mate aboard numerous vessels, including M/V Verendrye (300-tons), Barquentine Leeuwin, Schooner Madeline, Schooner Appledore IV.
Along the way, I also helped develop sail training programs for Ship operators.
I am part of the crew of the Great Lakes Maritime Academy Training Ship "State of Michigan".
I also occasionally do shipyard deliveries for Manitowoc Marine Group, Marinette, Wisconsin (Staten Island Ferries). And relief work for Discovery World in Milwaukee, as Captain of the 3 masted Schooner Dennis Sullivan
